Pi Pico 2 Sensor Project

Project started November 13, 2025. I gradually added material as the project progressed. Goal I need a sensor that can detect whether an object is in the desired location or not. Must use 24V input voltage, common in industry. Pass the signal on to either another microcontroller or a robot. The user must be ableContinue reading “Pi Pico 2 Sensor Project”

Photocoupler PC817 circuit

My photocoupler (optocoupler) board design. I added four resistor places to combine them with different input and output voltages. Also added a diode for reverse voltage protection. Does the output side need it? Any other suggestions? Updated version Update version with a two-way communication.

Start Seeed XIAO RP2040 on PlatformIO

For some reason, PlatformIO hasn’t merged support for other RP2040 boards to its platform. So we have to do it manually. PIO Home > Platforms > Advanced Installation and add: It has support for lots of RP2040-based boards. The full list is here. Platformio.ini file For now (21.08.2023), the PlatformIO Project Wizard does not createContinue reading “Start Seeed XIAO RP2040 on PlatformIO”

A nine-cornered PCB

This is my new nine-cornered MCB. I plan to add nine gas sensors onto this board. It would be my artificial nose experiment. The flowers are hand drawn and vectorized. It is made by PCBWay. It’s the first time when I ordered matte black coloured boards. And I really like that it makes it feelContinue reading “A nine-cornered PCB”

The Lion lamp

I had this, not working, ceiling lamp that collected dust. And I was wondering what to do with it and I found a way how to turn it into artwork. And it’s relatively easy to do if you have access to some technologies like laser cutting and printing. The picture is printed under plexiglass. IContinue reading “The Lion lamp”

The Watchman

The Watchman is an Electronic Sculpture. The Watchman is an electronic wall sculpture that combines art, night lighting and security. The working principle is very simple. It all is built around of Seeed Xiao RP2040 microcontroller board. Powered by a 3.7v Lithium-ion battery. RCWL-0516 doppler radar sensor detects the motion and sends the signal toContinue reading “The Watchman”

Golden Fase

My face-shape PCBs have arrived – kindly made by Seeed Studio Fusion service. On the backside, there are one XIAO RP2040 microcontroller and two synchronous buck converters to make 5 and 3.3 voltages. I found these Synchronous Buck Converter schematics, made by @wagiminator I incorporated them into my board design and it works pretty well.Continue reading “Golden Fase”

Artwork that knows when you are taking a picture of it

This is my electronic artwork inspired by Peter Vogel’s and Walter Giers works. And I am pretty happy with how it came out. It looks cool and it has artificial intelligence (to a limited extent). It recognizes when you are taking a picture of it with a mobile phone. And it uses only a microcontrollerContinue reading “Artwork that knows when you are taking a picture of it”

One PCB designs

Here are one PCB designs I have made recently. In spring I bought TinyML Cookbook and there are a lot of detailed examples of how to use machine learning on microcontrollers. So I designed this board to experiment with it. On this PCB, with is made by PCBWay, is room for Arduino Nano 33 BleContinue reading “One PCB designs”

Lillering

This coat of arms is a circle of flowers (Lillering). Green PCBs and oak wood are a nice combination. There is five shift-register to control LEDs.The Arduino’s original shiftOut() function is quite slow. I had to simplify it to make it work with my configuration without noticeable flickering. Board Arduino Pro mini 16Hz Atmega328 5v.Continue reading “Lillering”
